Galveston Vacation Part Eight

June 14, 2015 DAY EIGHT:
My mom woke us up this morning to get packed and ready to leave. We all made our beds, got dressed, packed our stuff, did walk through's, and left.We were all on the road by 9:30. I went with my dad. Patrick went with my mom, Hayley, and the D's. Our car was a lot quieter than the other car. We made two stops on the way home. My mom's car made three or four stops. We got home almost an hour before they did.
When we got home my dad and I unloaded the car and then went and got Roxie and Yum Yum.  After I unpacked all of my stuff I took Yum Yum for a walk. Then I made macaroni and watched T.V. Today was full of driving and resting. We all had lots of fun, but we are glad to be home I am really happy the our family got to spend a week together in Galveston. Thank you Grammie and Grampy for planing this trip, and thank you to all of the adults who helped with it, too.

Galveston Vacation Part Seven

June 13, 2015 DAY SEVEN:
Today, after I woke up, Heather woke up Patrick so we could go souvenir shopping. We were there for a while. Patrick got a red Frisbee. I got a necklace that has a sea turtle with a purple flower as its shell. I also got a small heart-shaped bottle with sand and seashells in it. It is my Galveston in a bottle. After we finished getting souvenirs we went to The Spot. Patrick and I got burgers and the adults got shrimp.                            After we got home my parents and Hayley took us to the beach. The waves were really big, but they were fun to play in. We would grab floaties and when a really big wave came we would jump up and ride the wave as far as we could. After we got home I took a bath. That was a total waste because right after we went on the big floaty thing that attached to the boat. It was really fun. Noah and Dalton only went on with us when we were in the canal. Patrick, Dyson, and  all went out into the bay. It was really fun going fast. None of us fell off. When we got back to the canal we jumped off of the floaty in the middle of the canal and swam back the rest of they way. After we swam back we swam for a while.
When we finished swimming we went inside and just hung out at the house. Noah played with Dyson and I again. We were playing games on my kindle. We played games and watched T.V. for a long time. Dinner was ready so we went down and had burgers. After eating Dyson and I went upstairs to play a little more. I got bored upstairs and went down to fish. I didn't catch anything, but lots of fish stole my bait. We had a fun day. Everyone is tired. This was our last full day here, and we had a great vacation. I am so glad we decided to come to the beach house.

Galveston Vacation Part Six

June 12, 2015 DAY SIX:
This morning I woke up because I didn't feel good last night and I was coughing a lot. When I got up and had a bowl of cereal. It was a slow day mostly. We ate and then we watched T.V. and hung around for a while. Grammie needed to go to Academy so Heather, Grammie, my mom, and I used this as an escape from all of the boys. We spent a while looking at swimsuits at Academy. I got a two-piece swim suit that was blue with palm trees. It was a t-shirt and shorts type of swim suit. After we finished at Academy, we ordered pizza to take home for lunch. The pizza wouldn't be ready to pick up for another thirty minutes so we went to Walmart to get groceries that we needed. Walmart was definitely not as crazy as it was the other day, but it was still crazy. We piked up the pizza and went home. The pizza smelled and tasted so good!
My mom and dad left in search of shrimp to cook for dinner. All of the kids except Patrick were in the bedroom. Noah took almost a two hour break from everything to play with Dyson and me. Noah is really fun! He messed around with us and tried to get into the chair that I was sitting in. If I went downstairs he would sit in the chair, and I would have to try to get him out of it. We were playing and watching T.V. for a few hours. Dyson and Dalton left for a boat ride and I just watched Phineas and Ferb for a while.
Later, my mom and dad were cooking and Grampy and I were fishing I caught two fish and three fish stole my bait. I had a lot of fun fishing with Grampy. When it was time for us to go up and eat we had to put up our fishing pole to go upstairs. I ate leftover pizza for dinner instead of shrimp because I don't like seafood. Yet another great day has passed and we are all looking forward to the next.

Galveston Vacation Part Five

June 11th, 2015 DAY FIVE:
This morning I woke up because Dyson turned off a fan. Noah was using that fan because it was really hot in the room. Dyson was watching T.V. and couldn't hear because the fan was too loud. When he turned it off I noticed the difference and started to wake up. Then Noah woke up and told Dyson to turn it back on. That caught me by surprise and woke me up. I got up and went down stairs. Right as I got down stairs they were serving breakfast. Breakfast was really good. Grammie made eggs, biscuits, and ham. Grampy asked us if we wanted to go in the boat again today. Dalton said no because he wanted to go on the little boat. None of us knew what he was talking about. We finally figured out that he meant the kayak. I said pick me! I want to go on the boat! Then Grampy asked if I wanted to drive the boat. I said Yes!I asked Dalton if he wanted to drive the boat he said he would drive the kayak.
At about ten o'clock, Hayley and Kevin took Dyson, Dalton, Patrick, and I to the beach. We were there until one. We brought boogie boards and floaties. The waves were pretty big so it was really fun to sit on our floaties and let the waves push us away. There were lots of times when the waves knocked us over. At one point we all got out at the same time. That was lucky because the ice cream truck was there. Dalton had a fit the other day because we didn't catch the ice cream truck in time. Everyone enjoyed their ice cream. Dalton got a Spider-Man Popsicle, Dyson and I both got snow cones, Patrick got a cookies n'cream ice ream cone, and Hayley got a chocolate ice cream cone.
We went back to the beach house for a break. My mom and dad left to go to lunch and the store and the Horn's went to the souvenir shop. They were all gone for an hour. I watched T.V. and played in my phone but I soon got bored.
Everyone got home and we ate tacos and queso for dinner. After dinner we went fishing. the boys went to the beach to look for squid but I was catching shrimp for bait. When we got enough bait I started fishing. After a while I felt something heavy on my line. I started to reel in my line. All of a sudden there was a big wire floating above the water and the light in the water had moved ten feet from its original spot. The good news is that this is probably not the first time that this has happened because in the book that has information on the house it tells you what to do in case you catch the wire. Well, I had a good laugh for the day! Another great day has passed and we are all tired but looking forward to another fun-filled day

Galveston Vacation Part Four

June 10th, 2015 DAY FOUR:
I woke up to the smell of french toast and bacon, and we had a really good breakfast. After everyone ate, all of the kids were itching to go and swim in the ocean. Grampy got a really big floaty for the boat. We were able to use it while we were swimming. We finally got to swim and we were in there for a few hours. Around two o'clock, we had to get out and take a break. We all watched T.V. and read for a while. Everyone was quiet, but no one fell asleep.
After our break, we went out on the boat with Grampy. Patrick and I loved it when we went really fast, but Dyson and Dalton preferred it when we went slower. At one point my mom was talking to Grampy about one of the beach houses that we almost rented. Dalton interrupted and said, "Less talking, more driving!" Looks like he takes after his mom. Dalton loves to play captain.
The Phineas and Ferb marathon was on for a while so we all watched it. After taking a long break we went  out swimming again. We swam for about an hour then we went in to eat. My dad made steak. He makes the best steak ever. We ate stake, Fruit salad, and potatoes. We didn't do as much today as we did yesterday. It was more of a calm day.
After sun-down we went fishing. None of us caught anything. Dalton caught some shrimp. Once he caught a really tiny shrimp and Heather said that it was a baby shrimp and that he had to throw it back to its mom. Dalton said, "That's OK... we are going to catch its mom anyway." I wonder who teaches him to have little sympathy. *COUGH COUGH* Hayley *COUGH COUGH* Tomorrow will be another great day.

Galveston Vacation Part Three

June 9th, 2105 DAY THREE:
Today I woke up to a quiet house and thought no one was in the house. I went downstairs and almost everyone was awake. Dalton was very excited to look in the crab traps. Heather did all she could to stall him while we waited for everyone to really wake up. As soon as everyone was moving around they checked the crab traps. Dalton was a little disappointed that it was only the same two crabs from yesterday, but he was glad to help let them loose.
About an hour later, my mom, Hayley, Grammie, Patrick, Dalton, Dyson, and I went out to drive around for a little while and got to the store. Our main reason to go out was to stay out of Grampy's way while he worked on the boat. We drove out to the ferries and waited in line to get on one. We were lucky and got the Aggie one. After the boat left we got out of the car and went to the rails to watch the seagulls, pelicans, and dolphins. It was really funny to watch the dolphins racing the boat. I wanted to take a picture but all I could think about was me dropping my phone into the ocean. I didn't take any pictures. After the ferry landed we got off and turned around to get on another one to go back to the mainland. We had to wait for almost an hour to get back onto a ferry. The trip back seemed a lot longer. Dalton was complaining that he was hungry and thirsty. I said he should of thought about that when he and Patrick ate all of the granola bars. We finally got off of the boat and went to Wendy's for lunch.
After we ate, we went to Randal's to get shopping done. It was calm and uncrowded, unlike Walmart. It was easy to find things, but we had so much stuff to get. Not to mention, nothing was near another thing at all. After spending an hour at the store, we went back to the beach house. We played with the chalk and went in the kayak. A long time passed and I got bored. Patrick and Dalton were in the kayak and I couldn't use it. Dyson was using the chalk but I didn't want to play with it. I asked my mom what I could do she suggested a lot of things. I was about to go upstairs when she said that I could use an inner tube and swim in the ocean.  I immediate got the tube and got into the water. Pretty soon Dyson and Patrick were in the water, too. After I fell off of the inner tube, I started swimming. Patrick and Dyson did the same.
We started jumping off of the dock and Dalton joined us. We were all playing for a few hours. It was really fun. We had to get out, take showers, and eat. We will probably do this tomorrow. Everyone is really tired from our exciting day. Dyson and Dalton are already asleep, and my eyes are closing as I type. Tomorrow will be a great day. The boat is fixed and we can swim in the ocean. Lots to look forward to.

Galveston Vacation Part Two

June 8th, 2015 DAY TWO:
Today I woke up to the smell of bacon. After a long day yesterday, I had a great sleep. After we ate a delicious breakfast of bacon, eggs, and biscuits, we went outside to play with bubbles and chalk. We had to use the chalk to make a divining line between Hammock City and our play area because Dalton got bubbles all over my mom's pillow. Hammock city is made up of eight hammocks. Dalton and Dyson were playing a game with the bubbles that was about poison bubbles were attacking a city and they took turns being the villain and the superhero. I made a mural of the beach at sunset. The chalk is really easy to use t make pictures like that with. I was working on it when Hayley, Heather, and Grampy took Dalton to the store to get supplies to fix the boat. This way Dalton was out of the way and Dyson was fishing with Patrick. IT took me almost and hour to finish it, but it looked great!
My mom and I went to Walmart and Academy after everybody got back. My mom got a pair of sandals at Academy and then we went to Walmart. Walmart was INSANE! It was really crowed. I thought the Walmart in Plano was bad, but that was before I went to the one in Galveston. All I wanted to do was get out of there. My mom and I both got a pair of cheap flip flops for the rest of the trip.
When we got home, Dyson, Patrick, and Dalton were using the kayak and going to the beach that was next to the ramp where you put boats in the water. They were "kidnapping" hermit crabs and bringing them back to our beach house. We all took turns riding in the kayak. Dalton and I went together to the beach and brought back empty shells. Patrick and I went, too. We mainly just rowed around for a while. Noah and I played ping pong for a while he beat me, but only by two points. He beat Patrick only by one point.
After fishing and kayaking dinner was almost ready. We all went in after Grampy and Dalton started stringing a little fishing pole for Dalton to use tomorrow. We had meatloaf and potatoes for dinner and we worked on a puzzle of the ocean. I am now in bed typing and looking forward to tomorrow.

Galveston Vacation Part One

June 7th, 2015 DAY ONE:
Today we took a six hour drive to Galveston. The drive was filled with laughter, screams, arguments, and other noises.  That might have been the longest drive of my life. I never thought that I would have to hear, "Don't put the silly putty in your underwear," but I did. Even though I hear the weirdest things, I love the craziness in my family. It brings joy to my life. Dalton had to be told not to throw french fries at his brother...which by the way is not the first time someone has had to say that to them. During the drive all of us ended up falling asleep for at least a little while. Those were the only few moments of silence during that drive. Towards the last twenty minutes of the ride, Dalton and Dyson started to get restless. We had to have Dalton find zombies to kill. Dyson and Dalton were told to search for beach houses that were shaped like domes. That held them off for about, oh, five seconds.
We got to the beach house and all Dalton wanted to do was go inside. He tried everything: he said he was hungry, he just HAD to pee, he wanted water, and he just plainly wanted to go inside.  Nothing he tried worked. We were told to wait outside until everything was ready to be unloaded. Finally, Dalton started to wine really loudly that he was hungry so he was the first to go inside to get grapes. As soon as he came out, we had to unpack. Patrick and I worked really hard, and Dyson helped, too. Dalton was just in the way. He was trying to show us all of the cool things that the house had. I really appreciate his excitement but I was hoping that he would stop and help us. Of course, that didn't happen. After everything was taken to the room where it belonged, We all started to put things away. Each bed had a little table next to it with a lamp. The bedside tables each have a drawer and a cabinet. We put our stuff in the drawers and the cabinets. I brought a few books, my kindle, and a few journals. Now I have my own library n the room. The room is really cool. Wish me luck. For the next week I am sharing a room with Dyson, Dalton, Patrick, and Noah.
After getting all of our stuff put away, we started using the nets to catch bait. Dalton was all over picking up the live bait that Grampy caught, but Dyson really just watched. Dalton ran ahead and caught the toad that was running across the patio while Dyson just stayed away from the creature. There is a significant difference between what Dalton will do and what Dyson will do. You might as well say that whatever Dyson won't do, Dalton will. The frog peed on Dalton and me when we each held him. He was pretty mad. It seemed like Dalton was about to chuck the frog into the ocean out of anger. Dalton was fuming when the frog peed on his pants. According to Dalton 'those pants were a thousand dollars!'
Dinner was finally ready. The lasagna was really good. I was just ready for this day to be over. The D's had worked my last nerve and I was really tired.I am currently in our room typing. Dalton was making annoying noises and I watched him kick down the paddle that was mounted on the wall above his air mattress. We had to go down and get the adults help twice because he was mad at Dyson for no reason at all and decided it would be a good idea and attack Dyson who was half asleep. I just watched Patrick Carrying a kicking and punching Dalton down the stairs. He has been evicted from this room. I have to say it is a LOT quieter in this room without him. I can't help being happy that this arrangement is only for a week.
Day one down, seven more to go. This will be an interesting trip.

50 Blog Posts

This year my goal is to post fifty blog posts. I am going to post after every exciting thing we do this summer. I chose fifty blog posts as my goal because before Camp Ali, it was Camp Holly and between six of us we got over fifty posts and I'm going to try to beat it as one person. I am giving myself until the end of August. Three down, forty-seven to go! Wish me luck!

Art Festival

Today we went to the art festival. There were so many cool things! We saw a really awesome giant robot. There were at least 3 statues of the robot. On one he was walking with birds on his shoulders. Then on another he was sitting on a bench playing a guitar with birds surrounding him. Then on the last one he was almost completely buried withe the birds surrounding him again. Behind the buried robot was a big mural on a brick wall. The mural was a big old fashioned television and on the screen was a robot fighting a T-Rex! There were lots of really pretty pieces of art that were for sale. Some of the pieces were optical allusions and others were just abstract. There was on person who used tea cups and tea pots to make wind chimes. The person also bent forks and knives to male picture frames and necklaces. Another person made instruments out of drift wood and animal sculls. There was a lot of jewelry made from stones and diamonds and beads. I loved the oil landscape pictures that we saw. There were mountain ranges and hills. One man painted a grassy area with one big tree in the corner. There were a few different bands playing around the festival. One man was playing the saxophone on the corner of the street. There were lots of people and lots of sound. All of the music was really good. Dyson and Dalton got a dinosaur from a lady who made animals and planes/trains out of soda cans. They said the sprite dinosaur was a master piece. In fact they said all of her work were master pieces. My favorite piece of hers was a humming bird. She must have very careful hands to make such delicate pieces. I love going and looking at all of the art. While we were walking and we passed the man playing the saxophone I looked between the crowd of people and saw the shops and the saxophone player In my mind I saw a work of art. As soon as we got home I spent two hours working on my picture before I forgot my image. I finally finished and showed everyone, they loved it! Someday when I have made more paintings and sketches, I want to have my own stand there to sell my pictures.

Promise Girls

My friends Rachel and Lizzy are working in a group with me on our Girl Scout Silver Award for the next three years. Our group name is called Promise Girls. For our Silver Award we are going to volunteer at an orphanage. We will play and interact with the kids there. What we want to do is raise money to get the kids at the orphanage things they need and want. Our goal is to get each kid at least one gift they would really enjoy. We want them to know that they are loved and not forgotten. Some of the money we raise will go to helping them have a better lifestyle. For example we will help get food and drinks for everyone at the orphanage. The first few steps to this project are:

  1. Rachel will do research and find an orphanage to volunteer in
  2. Rachel will send me the contact information and I will get in touch with the orphanage
  3. Lizzy will start organizing a fun activity to do with the kids over the summer
During this process we will all start to raise money for future plans.

My New Chrome Book

This Christmas was the best Christmas ever! It was the best Christmas ever because Grandpa and Dorothy gave me a Chrome Book! A Chrome Book is the same as a laptop but it is smaller and lighter. It can do all of the same things as a computer or laptop. My mom brought home a Chrome Book from her school for us to play with we liked it a lot. Patrick and I decided that we would like one. When we opened our presents we got better than we had hoped for! We each got one of our own! Thank you so much Grandpa and Dorothy! I love you so much! Also along with the Chrome Book, they got us a case to go with it! it is the best gift ever!

I'm thankful they helped instead of sitting there like mops.
                                                           I'm thankful the First Thanksgiving.
I'm thankful the pilgrims celebrated with the Native Americans and that they were still living.
I'm thankful that America won the revolutionary war.
I'm thankful it was our independence that we did score.

I'm thankful for my mom, dad, brother, and dog.
I'm thankful that I have an awesome family and not a hog!
I'm thankful for my grandparents and cousins and uncles and aunts.

I'm thankful for school and books and learning.
I'm thankful that I have lots of gears in my head turning.

Harry Potter and the Scorers Stone

I am starting to do book reviews on different books that I have read. My first review is going to be on the first book in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.
Harry Potter is a boy who lives with his aunt Petunia, uncle Vernon, and cousin Dudley Dursley. They are very mean and disrespectful to him. Every time Harry asked about his parents his aunt would say they died in a car crash(supposedly). Harry has always dreamed of some unknown relation coming to take him away but it has never happened. They go to the zoo for Dudley's birthday and Harry ends up setting a large snake on him(possibly). When he tries to explain to his aunt and uncle that it wasn't his fault and that the glass just disappeared like magic they don't believe him.Later pounds of letters for Harry from someone unknown arrive for him and his uncle looses it and takes them far away to live in a hose in the middle of the ocean. the first night there a half giant comes and gives Harry a letter from Albus Dumbledor, headmaster of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and wizardry. The giant tells Harry that his parents didn't die in a car crash that they were murdered by an evil wizard. He also tells Harry that he was a wizard and asks if Harry would rather go with him or stay with the Dursleys. Will Harry go with the giant called Hagrid and will he come face to face with the man who killed his parents? Read this book to find out.
This book is especially good for people who love a good mostly fantasy/mystery book. It is filled with the adventures that Harry goes on with his new friends, Ron Weasely and Hermione Granger.
J.K. Rowling is one of my favorite authors and I'm sure you will love her books too.

Little Elm Frisco

Yesterday My mom and Aunt Hayley took Patrick, Dyson, Dalton, and I to an awesome park in little Elm Frisco it was really cool. There was a huge jungle gym that looked like a giant spiderweb in the shape of a ball. It was really high up and it was amazing when you were up at the very top everyone looked small. There was also a spiderweb tire swing there was something like a tire that ropes were threaded into to look like a web it was a lot of fun. Another cool thing there was a rope net that had a rope ladder so you could climb into it and pretend to be trapped. There were pull up bars too. Of course the playground its self was pretty cool too it had lots of slides. I hope we can go there again soon.

Skyline Trapeze

A few weeks ago my awesome aunt Hayley took Patrick, Dyson, and I to a trapeze place called Skyline Trapeze. We learned all sorts of tricks like hanging from our legs, doing catches, and doing back flips off of the trapeze. Of course there was a more simpler trick which was only hanging and swinging from the bar. When the instructor asked who wanted to go first my hand immediately shot into to the air and I practically screamed "ME!" At first I was a little bit nervous but I did it and it was the best feeling ever. It was like I was flying! The first few times I did it I was only swinging and hanging from my knees. Around the fifth or sixth time I did it I did my first back flip! sort of☺. When the instructor told me to let go the first time I was to scared to do it so I didn't let go but the second time I tried I did it and it was AWESOME!
